Start with the review count, not the score. A 5.0 from ten people is a much thinner signal than a 5.0 from four thousand. Then call ahead and ask about frame stock, lens brands, and whether an optometrist is on site if you need an eye examination rather than just new glasses.
It varies shop by shop. Phone numbers are on the cards above wherever the shop publishes one, and calling ahead is the reliable way to check same-day eye tests or glasses made up while you wait.
